Interest-Rate Cap
In plain English
A contract limit on how much an adjustable mortgage rate or payment may change at one adjustment or over the loan’s life.
An interest-rate cap limits how much an ARM’s rate can change at one reset or over the life of the loan. Common disclosures distinguish an initial cap, periodic cap, and lifetime cap. Read the actual note before relying on a payment estimate from the ARM calculator.
